When you decide to undergo breast augmentation, you should know that it is important to follow a series of recommendations that will help the recovery process to be optimal and safe. This involves knowing more details about the procedure and following your surgeon’s instructions.

How to achieve a good recovery?

The first two days after breast augmentation are key to a good recovery. During this time, it is essential that you keep resting and avoid any kind of physical exertion. You should know that it is normal to experience swelling, discomfort, and sensitivity in the area. Do not forget to drink plenty of water and eat foods rich in vitamins to accelerate the healing process.

You may wonder, which is the best way to sleep after breast augmentation? Sleeping on your back and slightly seated will help reduce the pressure on the implants, and facilitate circulation and breathing.

Tip: During this time, avoid raising your arms above your shoulders, and wear comfortable clothing.

Should I wear a compression bra?

The answer to this question is yes. The special bra will be your best ally during the first few weeks. This type of bra helps keep the implants in place, reduces swelling, and facilitates the healing process.

In many cases, it is recommended to use a pressure band over the breasts to help the implant settle into its final position swiftly.

When do the implants begin to settle into place?

Between 3 to 4 weeks after surgery, the implants will begin to fall into place more naturally. You may notice changes in their shape and position during this time, but this is completely normal. As the swelling subsides and the tissues heal, the breasts will take their final shape. This process can take anywhere from 1 to 6 months maximum, at which time you will see the final result.

Tip: Avoid strenuous exercise until your surgeon recommends it. In general, after the first month, you can begin to incorporate light activities, but always under medical supervision.
